This very pretty American Brilliant Cut Glass bowl was made by the famous glass company, T. G. Hawkes. It features the strawberry diamond and fan pattern around the sides, and a 24 point star cut into the base. The rim is flat. The cuts are very precise and even; this is a very well made piece of cut glass. The Hawkes trefoil mark is acid etched in the center of the bottom of the bowl.
This comes from the estate of Phil’s mom, who was a passionate collector of American Brilliant cut glass and other fine art glass.
SIZE: Diameter at the base is about 3 1/8”. Diameter at the top is 5 1/8” and height is 2 1/2”.
CONDITION: Condition of this pretty bowl is very good to excellent. There are a couple of tiny nicks on the base. There is one small flaw on the side – in the strawberry diamond patterns. This appears to be a manufacturing flaw rather than a chip. There is a tiny rough spot on the top rim, noticed more by touch than by sight. Otherwise, we do not see any chips or cracks in the glass.
