This American Brilliant Cut Glass open salt dip is shaped like an ice tub which adds interest and a bit of whimsy to the piece. It features a hobstar on one handle, and geometric diamond cut filled patterns on the other. Fans, half-hobstars and diamond cuts decorate the sides. The base is cut with a star while the top rim between the handles has a series of cut lines. We do not see a mark and have not identified the manufacturer.
This comes from the estate of Phil’s mom, who was a passionate collector of American Brilliant cut glass and other fine art glass.
SIZE: Diameter at the base is 2 1/4”, and at the top is 2 1/2”. Height to the rim is 1 5/8” and to the top of the handle is 2 1/2”.
CONDITION: There are a few small nicks, particularly on the high parts of the cuts around the bottom. There is also on spot on the bottom ring that appears to have been ground, probably to take care of a larger chip. There is one longer chip (4x1mm) on a high point on a handle (the diamond cut side).
