This figurine was designed by Fritz Heidenreich for the Rosenthal porcelain company in 1934. This piece was made after 1957, based on the mark. The magnificent seagull appears to be soaring over the ocean waves, looking for a tidbit to grab before heading back into the skies. It is beautifully molded and painted; it really captures the freedom and joy these birds find in flight.
This piece comes from the estate of Phil’s mother. She was mainly a collector of glass, but also had an extensive collection of animal figurines that were purchased over many years.
SIZE: This seagull is about 9 1/2" wide, 9 1/8” high, and about 6 3/4” deep.
CONDITION: This figurine is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks or scratches. There is a tiny white spot on the tip of the upper wing where it appears a bit of color is missing; it is not a chip.
