This is a very beautiful and finely cut dresser box. The lid features a 24 point hobstar with prominent star in the center. Sides are cut in a ribbed pattern, with two cross-cuts around the middle. The collar is either silver or silver plate, but it is unmarked so is most likely plate. The base is cut in a star pattern. This piece absolutely sparkles in the light like a diamond. We have not found a signature and so are not able to attribute it to a manufacturer. It was made at the end of the 1800s, probably before the major companies started marking their items.
This comes from the estate of Phil’s mom, who was a passionate collector of American Brilliant cut glass and other fine art glass.
SIZE: The base has a diameter of 3 5/8”, while the diameter at the top is 3”. The box is about 2 1/4” high.
CONDITION: This box is in excellent condition. We do not see any chips, cracks or significant scratches. There is minor wearing on the base.
