Sterling Silver and Pink Porcelain Agate Necklace
Think Mother's Day, spring birthdays, Valentine's Day - or even just a special non-event gift for that special someone (yourself?).
This lovely Porcelain Agate spoke to me of spring, blossoms and the promise of new life. With that in mind, I surrounded the stone with three dimensional leaves, and used a scalloped bezel to accentuate the flower idea. The leaves are folded and gently curved; some have wire with a little ball soldered along the inside fold. I decided to add another leaf to the bail. The ball at the end of the center wire is actually the rivet that holds the bail onto the pendant.
I cut a flower (or possibly shamrock?) into the back of the pendant to let a little more of the lovely stone show through. The front is highly polished; the back has a satin brushed finish.
The chain is sterling silver. It ends in a silver lobster clasp, and a hand made sterling silver extender chain. The bottom of the extender chain is finished with a little pink and gray rhodochrosite bead.
This beautiful stone was cut and polished by Juvy Andres of J.C. Cabochons.
