This classy inkwell was designed to not spill ink no matter what the situation. It has a brown leather cover around the side and what we believe is faux leather on the bottom. The side of the lid was left as bare silver colored metal to give a nice contrast to the dark leather on the bottom part, and on the top of the lid. The first lid opens by pushing on the hidden button in the front. The second lid is opened by pushing the knob of a clasp over to the side. This second lid is hollow, with a spring inside that is covered by a leather pad. When the lid is held down with the clasp, the spring pushes the leather firmly onto the glass ink bottle so ink will not spill.
SIZE: Diameter is about 1 5/8 inches. Height is about 1 1/2 inches.
CONDITION: This inkwell is in very good condition. The leather is in excellent condition, with some wear on the base. There is an area on the silver metal that has turned yellow-gold. We are not sure if it might polish out; we’d rather leave that attempt to a new owner. The clasps on both lids are strong; the lids fit tightly. The hinge is in good shape, as is the glass bottle. There is ink staining inside the bottle and the inner lid.
