This is an interesting little inkwell, as it has what appears to be a British registration mark on its base, but below that are the words “German Make.” If the registration mark is British, the date of this inkwell would be 1891. It is shaped like a little bottle, with a lift off lid. The lid is glued to a cork to make sure the ink doesn’t evaporate quickly. It is painted in a pretty autumn design of leaves and what appear to be rose hips. The design is accented with gold trim.
SIZE: At its widest, the diameter is about 2 inches. Height is 2 3/4 inches.
CONDITION: The cork has shrunk a bit so it fits loosely in the inkwell. There is some rubbing around the top edge where the lid sits, and some of the gold trim is worn. Overall, this is a sweet little inkwell.
