From Modern Toys here is a sparking friction toy from the ‘50s. Give Sparky a hard push and he will go a few inches and spark. Well, that’s the best we could get out of Sparky.
The draw here is the lithography: it’s just beautiful.
Size:5 ½ inches long; 2 ¼ inches at the top of the cab; almost 1 ¾ in wide
Condition: The lithography is bright and shiny. There are some scratches most noticeable in the back by the trademark. There is a crease running vertical on the right side. Please look at the last picture. The bright lights highlight the crease.
The flint is a replacement. We replaced it. Hey, this toy is SUPPOSED to spark.
We’d have to say the friction motor isn’t one of the smoothest. It has a lot of torque, but we didn’t want to push Sparky too hard.
The box has a few issues: worn spot on the top over the “the”, a horizontal tear on the side, and a couple of blemishes on the bottom.
Sit Sparky on your shelf and your eyes will be drawn to the colors.
