Here is a sand toy from Chein and it even comes with the box. Chein started making sand pails and such in the 1920s. But it wasn’t until the early ‘50s when Chein made some sand toys for construction.
Place your dump truck under the Sand Chute and fill up the sand car. It lowers with weight and unloads into the truck. Drive your truck to that new castle you're building.
Guaranteed hours of fun for kids while letting Mom and Dad work on their suntans.
Size: 6 ½ inches deep at the base; 2 ¾ inches wide at the base; 10 ¼ inches high at the chute
Condition: This toy has been used, but gently so. Evidence of wear and corrosion at the top of the chute indicates this toy was probably put away wet. There is some rust in the box too. And just above the sand car are some scratches to the paint. A bit of corrosion is present where the loader sat on wet dirt or sand.
Notice the lack of corrosion on the bare metal parts. This toy was taken care of.
There are a couple of tears to the box along with creases and warping. Nice lithography inks the side of the box, but it still reflects the basic brown box of the tin toys from the period up to the ‘50s.
