This is a very unusual and beautiful early Bohemian glass vase. It is made of black glass with an overlay of opaque white glass. The white glass has a kind of webbing of other colored glass running through it, creating a wonderful pattern. The overlay has been cut away in long vertical panels on four sides, with vertical rows of ovals cut in between the panels. Gold trim surrounds the cut outs. Floral patterns have been enameled in the panels – there are two different patterns that are each repeated twice. The enameling is white with some light yellow. There are little streaks (spots) of red highlights throughout the piece too which add a little more dimension. The top is cut and polished. We believe this dates to the early part of the 20th century; it may possibly be a bit older.
SIZE: Height is 6 inches. Diameter at the base is about 2 1/8 inches and at the top rim is about 2 1/4 inches.
CONDITION: The condition of this vase is very good to excellent. There are no chips or cracks in the glass. The white and yellow enameling is 100% intact. Most of the gold trim is missing.
This is a gorgeous vase and one we’ve never seen before. It is well worth adding to any Bohemian or Czech glass collection.
