We just love the whistling penny toys from France. They have movement and whistle too. Blow on the end and hear the toot. It sounds like the horns at New Year’s. And watch the cage spin. As the cage spins you can see the squirrel really well inside. The squirrel is free-wheeling and sometimes will do a summersault. Gee, all this could be bought for a penny!
Size: 4 ½ inches long; 2 inches high at the cage; 1 ¼ inches wide at the cage base
Condition: The gold on the horn is about 50% present—just worn off from handling. The red and blue on the cage is very good with just a couple of wear spots and scratches.
The squirrel is gold painted. But one side looks better than the other. Our speculation is that the squirrel halves were painted in different batches, and one side just got a better coat of paint.
The toy works well, whistling and spinning.
