From the 1950s, here is nice friction fire truck from Modern Toys. It sparks and it make kind of siren sound. The spark is from a flint in the pump; the siren is from a small cardboard box inside the friction motor. There is a small lever that thumps the box causing a resonating sound.
Notice the 1912 label. There is a 1912 smaller version of this fire truck made by Linemar, but it doesn’t spark like this does.
Give it a push, see the sparks, and hear the siren—more like a whirring sound really.
Size: 5 ½ inches long; 4 inches tall at the pump; 3 inches wide
Condition: There is some wear to wheels from play. There is a slight bend to the frame, so that sometimes the toy doesn’t sit on all four wheels. It may have been made that way. Other than these two issues, this toy is almost mint.
If you chase fires, or fire trucks, you better get this one before it goes up in smoke.
