This is a great little traveling inkwell shaped like a carrying case complete with brass handle. The leather covering is stained dark maroon and is embellished with gold stripes and the word INK on the top. A crown with the words BERRY'S PATENT are stamped in gold on the front. The button which, when pushed, opens the lid is a round flat brass disk. The metal inside is painted dark green. The bottle is held in with a brass rim; it appears that these bottles were not meant to be removed and replaced.
SIZE: This inkwell measures 1 5/8" x 1 5/8" and is 1 1/2" high.
CONDITION: Condition of this inkwell is excellent. The leather is in pristine condition. The inkwell has been used; the bottle is heavily ink-stained. The opening mechanism works perfectly. The inside is in very good condition, although there is a little denting and loss of green paint on both sides of the rim holding the bottle. We believe someone may have tried using pliers to remove the rim (most likely without success as it appears to not be removable). The leather padding under the lid is also 100% intact and in excellent condition.
