These figural traveling inkwells are hard to find – especially in this condition. This one is in the shape of a violin case, complete with a little handle. Covered in brown leather, this is a great piece from a by-gone age.
A button on the front pushes to open the violin case lid. The ink bottle has a spring loaded lid which works perfectly. A pen wipe is also included. This inkwell appears to never have been used, as the pen wipe is still bright and unstained. The ink bottle is also unstained.
SIZE: This inkwell measures 3 1/4" long, by 1 3/8" wide at its widest and 1 1/4" high (not counting the handle).
CONDITION: Condition overall is excellent. The leather is completely intact with some minor scuffing here and there. The opening and latching mechanisms work very well – both lids shut nice and tight and spring open easily. The bottle is in good condition with no chips or cracks, and the leather padding inside the lid is also intact and in excellent condition.
This is a must have piece for any inkwell collection.
