This is an exceptionally fine wine glass, from the tall hollow stem to the delicate cranberry bowl and gold decoration. The clear stem and cranberry colored bowl were both mold blown and then joined. The stem is cut and polished on the bottom, while the bowl is cut and polished on the rim. The stem is shaped with a series of rings, with a marble sized ring close to the base. On that, little balls of glass were applied. The stem is hollow almost to the top, giving the inside a beautiful tear drop effect. The bowl was shaped with a smooth round outside, but subtle "corners" inside. This makes for a fluid appearance in the glass – just gorgeous. The gold painted on the bowl features grape leaves, bunches of grapes and tendrils. The perfect design for a wine glass!
SIZE: This glass measures an imposing just over 7 5/8" tall. Both the bowl rim and base have diameters of 2 1/2".
CONDITION: Overall, this glass is in very good condition. There is one tiny chip on the edge of the base, measuring 2mm by 1mm, which can be seen in Picture 8. Otherwise there are no chips, cracks or scratches. The gold is in excellent condition and appears to be close to 100% intact.
This is a truly beautiful piece of glass, made over 100 years ago. One to enjoy and admire for another 100 years or more.
