This inkwell is beautiful in its simplicity and functionality. It was made by the Royal Doulton pottery company between 1902 and 1922. Its stable shape ensures that it won’t tip over. It is also quite heavy, allowing it to stay in place. It has a cobalt glaze with warm brown around the base, the shoulder rim and just below the lift off lid. The well itself is part of the inkwell, so no need for removable inserts. The base is impressed with the Royal Doulton lion and crown mark as well as the pattern number 2406.
SIZE: Diameter at the base is about 4 inches. Height to top of lid is about 2 inches.
CONDITION: Condition is over all very good. There are faint scratches in the glaze and a couple of small glaze chips on the shoulder rim. There is some ink staining the bottom of the well.
