Christmas is always just around the corner—even if it's just the day after Christmas! We shop year-round so we don't have the pressure of last minute shopping. You can too!
With that in mind, here is a very nice Santa Claus from Japan. This is one of the earlier Santas with the tin balloon, not plastic. It comes with the original box, as can be seen in the pictures. The toy is in mint condition, although Santa's right hand comes off the handlebar. It looks like the hole has enlarged a little over the years. The trademark is on the license plate.
The motor trike is used on countless toys of this type, including reproductions from China. But it's the Santa Claus that separates this toy from all others: very good detail, without the characteristic damage associated with celluloid.
The box has some damage with the top flaps showing separation. But all are present. There is some wear to the outside and still retains its original price sticker from Kress'. Kress stores closed in 1981 But we think this toy is from the 1960s or possibly the early '70s based on the lithography and price tag on the box.
