Here is a seldom seen mini-airplane from the German toy company, Hoch & Beckmann (not HOBE as shown on the wings). Hoch & Bechmann began their business around 1890 and was out of business by 1958. Not much is known about this company, but they did distribute their toys through Moses Kohnstam (MoKo) and Emil Hausmann (Eha). They were best known for clockwork toys including cars, airplanes, toy garages and carousels.
This particular plane was part of a toy that was produced in the 1950s. It included airplane hangars and a carousel type windup. We have seen pictures of this toy, and we believe that the airplanes could have been purchased individually to augment the airport diorama.
Size: 3 inches long; almost 3 inches wide at the wings; 1 inch tall.
Condition: The toy is in near mint condition. No rust. The body is made of tin, the wheels are 1950s plastic. Note the propeller: it spins freely, and is made of metal. Later versions of the propeller were made of light weight plastic-- similar to the plastic used on pinwheels.
There is a spot on the body to attach to the carousel.
