This is one of those unusual Japanese toys which alludes to something on the box that just isn't there. In this case there isn't any bee. And no way to attach it, unless it were glued or attached to a metal tab. No indication of that on the toy, though. We think the toy box maker didn't check with the manufacturing department.
This toy appears to be from the 70s based on the combination of plastic and metal parts. Wind it up and watch the butterfly flap its wings and move across the floor.
Size: Butterfly body is 1 inch tall. Wing span is about 5 inches. Wings are 4 inches front to back.
Condition: This toy is in mint condition. The body is tin, while the undercarriage and wheels are plastic. The wings are a thin plastic. The box shows some moisture damage on the inside flaps. The tuck in part of the flaps show some tearing too.
This wasn't an expensive toy when it was produced and sold. And it was probably one of the last windup type toys to be made in Japan. These are getting harder to find.
