This inkwell was designed to be used for travel as well as on a desk. It features an attached dish to catch possible drips as well and to hold a pen. The lid is spring loaded and is opened by pushing the button in the front. The inside of the lid holds a spring which is covered by what we believe is paper which itself is covered by a disc of glass. The paper is printed with: ENCRIER A RESSORT, and additional words that are difficult to read as there is some ink staining the glass (inside where we cannot easily get to it). The hand painted decoration features a bee on top in the middle of flowers. Flowers and wheat stalks surround the side and the inside of the dish.
SIZE: Diameter of the dish is about 4 inches. The widest part of the inkwell itself is about 2 1/4 inches and height is about 3 inches.
CONDITION: Condition overall is very good. There are no chips or cracks in the ceramic. The hinge works well, but the lid will not fit all the way down. It might be possible to manipulate the hinge a bit to make that happen, but we did not want to attempt it. The clasp does work to keep the lid from opening completely
