SALE 5" x 4 1/4" Miniature Book Victorian Ladies on Cover 1908/1944 !
This is a wonderful little Dictionary first published in 1908, but this is the 1944 Edition. They call it a handy size, which it is, for carrying with them. It is only 5" long and 4 1/4" wide, and 1 1/8" from cover to cover.
The binding is most interesting, in that in a couple of places the blue is worn off and there is red underneath. The front, however is what drew my attention to this little miniature book. There are two Victorian women on the cover, sitting in front of what looks like a rose arbor. They are clad in their long full gowns with layers of bustles and petticoats, with wonderful hats to match their fashion clothing!
There's a raised gold gilt like frame around it, and the picture is very clear. I don't know if someone added this cover to an otherwise blue hardback book, or if it was originally like this. I only know it is a wonderful scene which adds much interest if you love miniature books. Inside, the dictionary is complete and may actually be used. However, it doesn't look like anyone ever used it before, except to mark on the inside cover page. You won't be disappointed.
