Baby Cabinet Card from Victorian Era: J.R.Cole Hillsdale, Michigan

Look at this cutie photographed most likely in the late 1800's. I've never seen one of these little one arm velvet chairs with the velvet curtain behind it. I wonder if it isn't some special chair they had for babies to have their pictures made, because the size looks just perfect for her little button up shoed feet to rest. She is dressed like a little old lady in a dress that has big pleats and a lace collar. Also a bit amusing, I think, is that it looks like her hair has been parted in the middle and then slicked down on both sides. And there's not that much hair to start with :)

The back of this cabinet card reads J.R. Cole...Photographer...Hillsdale, Michigan...Negatives Preserved. There are no tears or breaks in this great old card, only a tiny piece of the paper is a bit loose in the lower left hand corner. The picture of the baby itself is clear, but the background looks a bit spotty or fuzzy, but it doesn't appear to be anything on the surface of the picture. Perhaps it was just under the finish of the photo.
