Sale I love old photos, and it is pretty clear that this young boy brought his favorite pets, a dog and bird in a cage, to the photo shoot for this Early Cabinet Card. When you find photographs of animals/pets in Studio Photography in the late 1800's, early 1900's, we can easily conclude that the family is well to do financially. This handsome young man must have had to stand a long time waiting for the flash to heat up because there is no smile to be found. Plus, he's probably not too comfortable in those stiff knickers and jacket with a ruffled collar, especially if it was in the summer. Even the dog looks a little overheated with his tongue hanging down like it is. Wonder if the bird was making noise all that time too? Those must have been funny adventures.
The photographers for this Victorian Cabinet card were The Huff Sisters of Stockton, Mo. The slick black and white photos were attached to these cards which kept them in better shape for all these many years. I am amazed that you can still clearly see this young man, his dog and pet bird. At some time, this card was sold for $4.99 for someone's mom as it says on the back. It's in great condition. I do believe you will love it.
I am always happy to combine purchases to save you on shipping so please be sure to let me know if you are interested in other items I have listed. I can usually send several photos together for not much more than the one can be shipped. I only charge for postage and the purchased bubble envelope I mail them in, and they will be packed carefully so they don't get bent.
Thanks so much for shopping with me, and God Bless YoU! May we honor Him in all we say and do.
