Half Price for Christmas SALE This is a gorgeous Czech Glass and Filigree Necklace from the Early 1900's, and if I knew for sure what year, I would call it Antique rather than Vintage. I believe it to be at least from the 1920's. The color is so hard to describe. Upon first seeing it, I called it a light purple amethyst color, but then sometimes it looks more pink than purple, but it is glass, like so many of the Czechoslovakian necklaces and other jewelry were made from. The large faceted stone at the center has the most phenomenal designed filigree in the upper corners, almost like "ears" or upside down filigree cones. The stone is open in the front and back, and the lovely setting around the sides of the stone are really neat too. In addition, there are 16 more faceted barrel shaped beads with end caps and metal links between each one. I'm not sure, but I would say this filigree and other metal settings/links are probably brass, although they may be some other kind of gold metal. End to end, it is 15 1/2" long. The large stone is app. 1 1/4" x 1" and the barrel glass stones are each app. 1/2" long. I have not been able to read a marking on the rings, but I saw another necklace with the same shaped filigree ears and a different color stone that had a Czechoslovakia mark on the ring but it couldn't be seen in the pictures. The only thing I would say would make this better is one more tiny ring where the latch is, as it is a short one to hook to, but it works and may just be exactly as it is supposed to be. You won't be disappointed to add this beautiful early Czech glass necklace to your collection of jewelry from the past!
