SALE Complete with Dust Jacket, here's the fabulous Cookbook by Julia Child, Louisette Bertholle and Simone Beck entitled MASTERING THE ART OF FRENCH COOKING. As it says on the cover, this is "The only cookbook that explains how to create authentic French dishes in American kitchens with American foods." The illustrations are drawing by Sidonie Coryn, and the color picture on the jacket is by gigot roti. I love the Fleur de Lis allover design both on the dust jacket and the hardback cover. The spine is excellent too!

Here are just a few quotes found on the book jacket to give you more of an idea what to expect: " Anyone can cook in the French manner anywhere," say Mesdames Beck, Bertholle, and Child,"with the right instruction." Here, at last, is the first fundamental cookbook that tells Americans how.

"Mastering the Art of French Cooking is for both seasoned cooks and beginners who love good food and long to reproduce at home the savory delights of the classic cuisine..." "It leads the cook infallibly from the buying and handling of raw ingredients, through each essential step of a recipe, to the final creation of a delicate confection." "It breaks down the classic cuisine into a logical sequence of themes and variations rather than presenting an endless and diffuse catalogue of recipes..." "It adapts classical techniques, wherever possible, to modern American conveniences." "It shows Americans how to buy products from any supermarket in the U. S. A. which reproduce the exact taste and texture of the French ingredients: equivalent meat cuts, for example; the right beans for a cassoulet; or the appropriate fish and seafood for a bouillabaisse."

"All 3 authors have worked under various distinguished French chefs. In 1951 they started their own cooking school in Paris, L'Ecole des Trois Gourmandes, at the same time that this book was taking shape."

I am most familiar, as I believe many of you are as well, with Julia Child, who studied at Paris's famous Cordon Bleu. For years, Mrs. Child's program "The French Chef" was broadcast on educational television networks across the country. In 1968 the recipes demonstrated on these programs, many of which were drawn from this book, were published as The French Chef Cookbook."

If you love Vintage Quality Cookbooks that are practical and ready to use, or if you just like to look at them or use them to decorate with in your retro kitchen, you certainly will want to add this one to your collection. It is in excellent condition, with the Hardback front and back clean and intact mostly due to the dust cover that has remained for all these years! The dust jacket has a little wear as you can see, but it still is a wonderful collector's item for all you Master Chefs! You won't be disappointed to add this Cook book with over 700 pages of recipes, index, and illustrations!

If you want it quickly, I can mail it Priority, but it is heavy, weighing over 3 pounds even before carefully packing so that it arrives in excellent condition as sent! If you aren't in a hurry, just choose Media Mail in the US, but with holiday mailing, it may take longer than usual. Still, it will be worth your wait!!

I am always happy to combine purchases to save you on shipping, so please be sure to let me know if you are interested in other items I have listed.

Thanks so much for shopping with me, and God Bless You! May we honor Him in all we say and do!
