SALE Take a look at this great old Photo inside an Early Fashion Men's Clothing Store from another Era, possibly from the 1920's. I say that as an estimated time because something about it just reminds me of the Flapper Era! The gentleman in the picture has on his wing tip shoes, white socks, trousers about ankle length, shirt buttoned up all the way and neatly tucked into his pants, and you can see a chain hanging from his waist, like a pocket watch would have been on. I wondered if it might be a college town because of all the metal steamer trunk like suitcases on top of the shelf to the right, and the pennants hanging down that side of the wall. I tried to read what one might say, but couldn't make it out.
On the opposite side, look at all the ties hanging, and what looks like cumberbunds, and a store display of crisply starched shirt collars. In the showcase below, I see hats and sweaters, and at least one is an argyle sweater; then further down what looks like stacks of neatly folded trousers. The industrial style hanging lights look like what folks are looking for now to put in their newly built or remodeled homes. In the back, I'm guessing that's two dressing rooms with transom windows above the doors. If you notice the furniture, it's not metal shelving, but solid wood and glass counters and shelves, plus I see ornate wooden mirrors on stands that perhaps could roll around the floor. And take a look at that cool clothing rack holding all the suit coats!
This is just all an iconic look of a store front from the past, and I love these old photographs. This one is a 5" x 7" and is in really good condition, other than the left hand corner where you can see some creasing and a couple of stains on the back side. It was wrapped in plastic, so I never removed it, to keep it in the same condition as found. I bought this in Southern Indiana at an antique store, and so I'm not sure where it was made. But I would say some classy guys bought their clothes there! You won't be disappointed to add this great photo to your collection. I will pack it carefully between cardboard so that it reaches you in the condition sent.
