SALE What a fabulous "One of a kind" find in this 1946 Facsimile of Wedding Party Dolls including the Bride and Groom, 4 Bridesmaids, Flower Girl and Ring Bearer. I have learned from reading after a doll collector wrote to me, that these dolls are probably "Dress Me Dolls," which some were made by Duchess Dolls and others by different maker, but I was not able to find any markings. To be quite truthful, I've on the back of their neck and everywhere I could see, without undressing them, because I don't believe they have ever been undressed since they were put together and I do not want to mess them up in any way!
I learned today that the bride in this set, Mother of the children selling these, attended the Vogue School of Fashion Design, so this makes it even more understandable why she was so interested in creating such a realistic group of dolls for her wedding day!
The bride, groom, and bridesmaids dolls are app. 11 1/2" to 12" tall, while the flower girl is about 8" and the ring bearer is app. 7- 7 1/2" tall.
All of the girls have blushing pink cheeks, made up eyes and lips to match, and they are in excellent condition! The hair color, dress color, nosegay of flowers, and matching hats were patterned after the real bridesmaid in this wedding. They all are wearing pearls, even down to the little flower girl! The groom looks so handsome too in his dress silky satin wedding attire! The two little children dolls have sleep eyes, and they are dressed just as they were in the wedding too! Look at the beautiful headpiece that holds the bride's veil! Whoever took the time outfitting these fabulous dolls with all the beautiful accessories was quite the artist!
These beautiful dolls are all being sold as a set, and they are on consignment, so any offers would have to be approved by the daughters of the deceased bride and groom. Their dad was a Federal Judge for many years, and they have acquired so, so many collectible items from their parents that they just decided to let these go to someone who would really love them.
The price I have these listed for may seem high for dolls that at one time may have even been give aways with different household items, but to me, even though the dolls themselves might have been inexpensive, they just look like they ought to be in some doll museum somewhere, as they are so, so detailed and lovely even after all these 69 years! They have been stored on their plastic stands for many years now, but at one time, they surely had a place of prominence in the home of the bride and group! What a treasure! I started out with a much higher asking price, and after learning what the dolls themselves were, I lowered the price, but still, I do believe as they represent this whole wedding party of a family some 69 years ago, they are quality! Wouldn't this be a great advertisement for wedding photographers, wedding planners and the like?! You decide how you would like to showcase this fine group of dolls.
I most often offer to ship several items together, but I don't believe I would want to ship anything except these dolls together, so that they don't get messed up in any way. They are stored in hard cardboard boxes right now, but I will lightly wrap each doll and package with packing materials that will keep them intact, so that they arrive at your home as sent. They will either be sent Priority Mail or I can get a quote from FEDEX. **The shipping quote is an estimate, and if it costs less to mail them, I will always send a refund of overpayment back to your Paypal account.**
Thanks so much for shopping with me, and God Bless You! May we honor Him in all we say and do!
