SALE I purchased this Lovely 1920's Black Beaded Coin purse with the Patent Number 165839 from a reputable Southern IL Estate seller, and it's just beautiful! There are hundreds of tiny seed size black beads, woven so tightly together that I first thought it was a Corde Bag, but then realized they were tiny little beads. The metal zipper works great, and the pull is where the Patent number is found. In excellent condition inside and out, this little coin purse measures 5 1/2" x 3 3/4". You may be able to tell that the design of the beads makes it almost look like there's an "M" section where the beads are more like tiny rectangular cylinders rather than being round beads. This is just a fine example of a very early vanity item for ladies to carry their lipsticks, maybe a hankie, or just her coin. The small size would fit perfectly in her evening bag and have the same look of elegance for a night out. I suppose it could also serve as a child's or large doll's purse, but I believe it was probably meant to be used for an adult. You may, however, use as you wish when you make it your very own! You won't be disappointed.
