Christmas SILVER SALE Look at this gorgeous Vintage and discontinued "Cameo" Flatware or Silverware Chest made by Marshall White of Chicago, in a material that is often mistaken for bakelite. It is actually made of Plaskon, a very hard plastic, but many times in this color as well as the dark colored one that was made, it is listed as bakelite. However, it does not test positive for bakelite, so I can't list it as such. It's a lot like Catalin. I read in another Ruby Lane listing that Plaskon is actually a mix of Cellulose and urea compound.
The design and color is just phenomenal, with a carved Grecian Urn in the center, with surrounded with scroll like designs and leaf borders. The colors are Ivory with a deeper tan or taupe color. This beautiful silverware Cameo chest will hold a place setting for 12, and is lined with the Pacific Silver Cloth in brown. A portion of the original Cameo and Marshall White foil tag is still present inside, and it is well marked on the bottom, which stands steadily on 4 feet.
This is an excellent piece to showcase your silver, because just the case is a treasure in itself, even making a beautiful table centerpiece if you so desire. The only issue I see with this is one small chip on the under part of the top lid, so that when it is closed, you don't see it unless you get under it to look. It does not take away from the usability either. This is just a beautiful flatware chest, and one you hopefully will want to add to your collection. I purchased it from a from an antique dealer in Western KY. This chest is discontinued, as you can read on Replacements website, so to find one, you will have to find a vintage one such as this one. It's app. 17 3/4" long x 12" North to South.
I am always happy to combine purchases to save you on shipping, so please be sure to let me know if you are interested in other items I have listed. This one, because of the size, may have to go in an irregular size box, so the shipping may be more, but I only charge actual shipping...no service charges ever! If FEDEX happens to be more cost effective than USPS, I am happy to send that way if you have a home address and not a PO number.
Thanks so much for shopping with me, and God Bless YoU! May we honor Him in all we say and do!
