PRICE SLASHED 1916 DIE CUT DOUBLE HEART VALENTINE WITH ROSES, BIRDS, PROBABLY HOMEMADE!
I believe this amazing Die-Cut Stand Up Double Heart Valentine from 1916 is probably Homemade! With a pretty young girl in her green gown and flowing golden scarf, she is surrounded by pretty flowers and 3 Songbirds at the top sending their Valentine Wishes!
The back is like brown construction paper, and then there's a slightly smaller red construction paper double heart on top, with the die cuts added for extra interest! There's a slit where you can open to see her long flowing gown, plus the pretty pink flowers become 2 dimensional when you open and they stand out. there is some bending to the red construction paper, and you can see that this is an oldie with some wear to the back because the brown has long ago faded to a grey/green color. An interesting addition is the cut-out stand that looks to have been made out of poster board.
This isn't perfect in condition, but it is certainly a wonderful piece of history! It's even signed, "To Hazel from Uncle Will and Aunt Mabel...Feb. 14, 1916. Imagine sentimental ephemera being found in such good condition as this one even, after 98 years! You won't be disappointed to add this Valentine's Day Card to your collection! It is app. 9 3/4" tall and 6 1/2" wide. I will pack it carefully between cardboard so that it doesn't get bent or torn in the mailing process.
