SALE Silky Oriental Children's or Doll's Cat Houseshoes from Japan, Supposed World War I Souvenir
I was told that these adorable kitty cat children's houseshoes were most likely brought back from the war when someone was serving in Japan. The stitching is so intricate, even down to the whiskers on the kitty's face! The cloth feels like a cross between linen and silk, and they are cloth inside and out. Red on the inside with dark green binding and thread for topstitching, there's also some gold colored thread used for the features on the cat's face. I'm guessing they were only a souvenir that was displayed on a shelf, because even the bottom of the little shoes are clean as a whistle!
These darling figural shoes from Japan are app. 5 1/2" long. Just noticed, but look at the extra detail added to the flaps on the back of the heels of the shoes. You won't be disappointed to add these to your collection of wartime souvenirs or kitty cat keepsakes! With the red and green colors, I think they would be perfect to hang from your Christmas tree!
