It's not often that I run across Funeral notices, like this one from Hubbard City, Texas; it's like an invitation to the funeral. The deceased is Mrs. J.C. Stinson. The invitation is on a folded piece of manila like colored paper with a black outline and black type that is a bit blurred, but still all in one piece. The "Funeral Notice" reads as follows: The friends and acquaintances of the family are requested to attend the funeral of MRS. J. C. STINSON, Aged 71 years, 10 months, 6 days. Died at the home of her son-in-law, R. E. Jordan, in Hubbard City, Texas, February 5th, 1908, at 9:30 A.M.. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. B.E. Bowmer, assisted by Rev. A. D. Porter, at the residence tomorrow morning at 9:30, interment at Dover Cemetery immediately afterward. Hubbard City, Texas, Feb. 5, 1908."
Just an unusual piece of ephemera that has survived for all these many years...104 years, to be exact!
