SALE OLD PHOTOGRAPHY YOUNG WOMAN IN VERY VINTAGE NUN'S HABIT FROM LOUISVILLE, KY! This is a wonderful old photograph of a young woman dressed in an early Nun's Habit. The full length robe, which looks like it may have a cloak at the top, is black from top to bottom except for wide wide cuffs and a rounded collar that again has a very simple black bow in the middle of the collar. Her headpiece is what tells me this was an earlier habit, because there is not a large head covering, but it's more like a headband with a flowing veil attached to the back.
I'm not sure what you call the coloring on this old photo, as it is almost all black and white, but there is some green color to highlight the bushes in the background and the plants in the large stone statuary pots. I'm not sure if that is called "gray scale" or if it is a form of sepia, but it certainly does not look like it has been made recently, as it almost has that silvery black shiny look that's next to a tintype coloring, only the green stands out.
This is in a 10 x 12 cardboard frame with the Bockmann Photography of Louisville embossed at the bottom. The picture itself is app. 8 x 10, but not exactly. It has remained in very good condition, and I would think it would be very interesting to people who document history of convents, monasteries, or just someone who collects items from The Catholic Church of Days gone by. It's in excellent condition, and ready to be carefully packed and mailed your way. I believe there are some convents in and around Louisville, KY, so perhaps you even recognize this lady as a family member. It's also a great one for KY Genealogy.
