Christmas Postcard Sale on wonderful Up Close Santa from the early 1900's with metal skates, a doll, joker, sled, sword, drum, a toy rifle + more goodies to be delivered! He even has two or three Christmas trees just in case he finds a house without one. Santa has such a jolly look on his face; in fact, it seems as if he's laughing. Funny, his green gloves almost make him look like the Hulk, but hey....He was way before the Hulk's time!
There is a trademark in the left hand lower corner that has a C in the middle and Stecher Lith. Co of Rochester, N.Y., and is from the Series 540 B. It is addressed to Doris Schroeder from Miss Pool. On one hand, I'm sorry that there is a perfectly punched hole with thin rope/yarn, showing that she must have used this great postcard for a gift tag. On the other hand, how very thoughtful of Miss Pool, whom I assume was probably his teacher, as I found a couple of other teacher postcards in this large collection of postcards I bought at the Nashville Antique shows last month. I love this one, even though it does have the hole....at least it's intentional, and it's in great shape! It would make a great ornament for your tree.
I am always happy to combine purchases to save you on shipping, so please be sure to let me know if you are interested in other items I have listed.
