Elegant 19th century bronze inkwell with tray, embellished with detailed greyhound or whippet dog. The inkwell is blown glass, with numerous bubbles in the glass, fitting snugly into the center of the round bronze tray. The inkwell is detachable from the tray. Bronze tray features gadrooned rope edge around the perimeter of the piece and around the inkwell. The dog is wearing a collar and sits on one edge of the tray beside the rope border. The inkwell has a round lid with button type finial. The inkwell tray measures 6 1/2" in diameter, base of the glass inkwell is 2 1/2" in diameter around the base and 2 3/4" tall, the dog is 2" tall. Excellent condition, early blown glass and bronze inkwell. Heavy weight for it's size.
