Exquisite Art Deco sterling silver and guilloche enamel compact vanity dance purse by Elgin American Elginite. Superb vanity purse in buttery yellow guilloche enamel with pink roses and a central plaque in white guilloche enamel with more pink roses, the plaque framed in sterling silver. This piece is in excellent condition, it appears to have been never filled and never used or carried. There are two powder wells in the gold washed interior and two lipstick holders. The framed vanity mirror is pristine. The purse measures 7 1/2" long including the carry chain, which is alternating engraved bars and links. The compact purse is 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" and measures 1/2" in thickness. The push button clasp opens the interior to reveal a gold washed interior with round, framed mirror and two powder wells, one for face powder and one for rouge, and two gleaming silver lipstick holders. The compact doesn't seem to have been used with the exception of one of the lipsticks has some lipstick residue in it, and the purse is in pristine condition, so it was very lightly carried if it ever was used. The sides of the piece are ornately engraved, the back has an engine turned design and is marked EAM (Elgin American Elginite) Sterling. This is a fabulous, collector vanity purse from the 1920-1930 Art Deco period, produced by the Elgin American Manufacturing Company of Elgin, Illinois.
