Perfectly exquisite and very rare antique berry bowl, hand painted with butterflies, cherry blossoms, and cherries, and signed by renowned listed porcelain artist, Esther Miler. Well known for her paintings on porcelain, Esther Miler's bumblebee paintings are well sought after, but never before have I seen or had an example of her butterflies...and they are so cute too, with perfect little faces and such personality. Miler has painted three of these butterflies along with ripe cherries and blooming cherry blossoms, against a peach and soft blue background. More cherries and blossoms are painted around the side of the piece, which stands on three little feet, richly gilded with Roman coin gold. The softly scalloped rim of the bowl is also gilded in coin gold. She has signed the piece, E. Miler. Esther Miler painted almost exclusively on Limoges blanks, since this piece is painted on every surface, including the bottom, the factory mark has been obscured. An individual berry bowl, this piece stands 2" tall and measures 5" in diameter. Easily the rarest of all of Miler's paintings, this butterfly and cherries décor would be nearly impossible to find again, and here it is, the perfect and rarest of acquisitions for the serious Miler collector. This berry bowl is in perfect condition, with no chips, cracks, hairlines, or repairs, and barely a hint of gold wear except on the very bottoms of the three little gold feet where it rests, as you would expect. Pristine condition. Circa 1900.
