Antique silver cigarette case, all original, circa 1900. Very fine example for storing cigarettes before they were commercially available. Retains it's original satin ribbon for securing cigarettes. This piece would make a very distinctive modern day business card holder, it measures 4" in length and 3 1/2" wide, and is in excellent, really pristine, condition with no breaks in the metal, no dents, no losses. On both sides is a fabulous Art Nouveau lily type flower. No marks, as was not uncommon a hundred years ago especially on a piece such as this, but guaranteed 800 silver or better, country of origin is unknown. This piece is very likely sterling silver, testing it though is problematic due to it's delicate form and lack of suitable testing site without causing damage. Clasp closes easily and holds securely, a choice example.
