Lovely early twentieth century multi-colored rhinestone and gilt brass hair pin with a graceful, braided rope detail. The comb part has a subtle, flirty heart shape and the braided gilt rope outlines the heart inside the piece as well as outside. Overall, it measures 5 1/4 inches in length, and the heart measures 1 1/4 inches wide and 2 inches tall. It's an unusual form to find and is almost certainly Czech, possibly French but we believe it's origins were likely the Bohemia-Czech region. The hair pin is unmarked and in excellent condition and looks to me to have had one stone, (the blue one) replaced at some point in it's nearly ninety year lifetime. The gilt brass is really nice and with the colored rhinestones this hair pin is a very showy little piece.
