Rare and fabulous Pickard charger, hand painted with ripe red cherries, white and yellow cherry blossoms, black penwork, and exquisitely gilded with gold. Gorgeous palette with deep pink, blue, yellow, green, and apricot grounds. The wide gold border extends into the body of the plate with two gold swags with penwork accents, and the entire gold border is outlined with black penwork and accented with curvy black lines. The artist has painted two cherries inside the gold border with such realism you want to pick them up. The piece measures 8 1/2" in diameter and is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, and no discernable wear to the gold. Signed M. P. (Minnie Pickard), who worked at Pickard from 1903 until 1912, and marked W. A. Pickard Hand Painted, (Mark 4) used from 1903 until 1905, and factory marked T. & V. Limoges France, used by Tressemann & Vogt from 1892 until 1907. Minnie Verna Flood married Wilder Pickard, the founder of Pickard China, in 1894. She painted china and kept the books, and her works are highly sought after and rare to find.
