Nippon squat vase, hand painted with man in a canoe on a lake scene. The scene wraps all the way around the vase, bordered by a wide gold band with moriage beading around the middle of the vase and cobalt with gold around the neck and a very unusual rim. There are raised white enameled flowers painted around the rim with gold flowers and gold Greek key designs on cobalt medallions that extend down onto the body of the piece. The vase is approximately 6" tall x 7" across with a 21 3/4" circumference and is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks, very minor wear to the gold, and a couple of scuff marks on the back. Marked Hand Painted Nippon with a maple leaf, used circa 1891.
