Outstanding Pickard plate, hand painted on a Limoges blank with pink and lavender wild roses against yellow and peach grounds and
signed by Maxwell Rean Klipphahn, one of Pickard's best and most prolific artists. Klipphahn worked for Pickard from 1900 until 1938 and signed most of his work with his middle name, Rean, like this piece. Heavy gold scalloped rim with black penwork detail and a large gold trefoil painted in the center of the piece, outlined and accented with black penwork. The plate measures 8 1/2" in diameter and is in excellent condition with no damage, losses, or gold wear. Factory marked Limoges France, (Mark 6) used after 1891, and studio marked W.A. Pickard Hand Painted China (Mark 4) used from 1903 until 1905 at the carriage barn studio. *The plate displays the warm yellow ground in the first and sixth photos, my lights wash out the color in the closeup photos making it look white.
