Gorgeous Limoges very large charger or tray, hand painted with pink and white roses against blue and yellow grounds. The piece measures 12 1/4" in diameter and is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or wear. Factory underglaze mark Depose (Patented) Touraine T.&V. France, (Mark 8) used by Tressemann & Vogt from 1907 until 1919, and overglaze decorator mark T.&V. Limoges with a bell. (Mark 16) used by Tressemann & Vogt during the same time period. Touraine refers to the line of porcelain, throughout the late 15th and 16th centuries, the Touraine region was a favorite residence of French kings and the dark and gloomy castles were converted to Renaissance châteaux. This region became known as "The Garden of France" and several centuries later, Tressemann & Vogt decorated their Touraine line of porcelain with the beautiful flowers of the Touraine like these beautiful pink roses.
