Gorgeous Limoges double open handle charger, beautifully hand painted with pink and yellow roses against a vibrant blue ground and accented with white 'shadow flowers'. Yellow, lavender, and peach tones are painted around the center of the piece, and the rim and handles are painted with heavy gold. Signed by well listed Pickard artist, T. (Thomas) M. Jelinek, and marked D. & Co. France, (Mark 3) used by R. Delinieres from 1894 until 1900, the charger measures 10 1/2" from handle to handle and is in excellent condition with no damage or losses and no discernable wear to the gold. Thomas Jelinek worked at Pickard from 1898 until 1905, when he left to work at Stouffer Studios until 1922, and also operated his own Chicago studio from 1914 until 1915. This piece would have been one of his earlier works, painted in his naturalistic style while he worked at Pickard. Jelinek was well known for his skill painting roses and his early designs were very colorful, as this one certainly is.
