Beautiful art pottery trumpet vase in eggshell white designed by George Rumrill in the early 1930's. Rumrill partnered with Red Wing Pottery of Minnesota from 1931-1938 to produce a decorative line of Art Pottery, reflecting the Arts and Crafts movement. His trumpet vase was produced in several colors. This one is in eggshell white and is marked Rum Rill 486 on the bottom. It measures 7" x 7" and is in good condition with a glaze pop and a small chip on one of the trumpet flowers. This flower extends farthest from the vase and has a scalloped edge that hangs down, so it's not noticeable. There are two light stains on the outside of the vase and one on the bottom and some discoloration and a rust stain inside the vase, all of which I have considered in discounting this piece. Unfortunately, Rumrill suffered breathing issues as a result of the dust in his pottery and developed tuberculosis, and died in 1943.
