Beautiful English Crown Devon bottle vase by Simon Fielding & Company of Staffordshire, England. Hand painted with Gloire de Dijon roses. The Gloire de Dijon rose was introduced in 1853 by Jacotot of France. It is an old garden rose, a hybrid cross of a tea rose and the Souvenir de la Malmaison, a Bourbon rose. This old garden rose is immortalized on this vase. The vase stands 9 1/2 inches tall. Superbly painted in a lovely palette of colors. This roses vase is marked with the pattern name and the mark was used starting in 1913. It is in very good condition, it does have a rim chip, it is not distracting since it is the same color as the rim of the piece and pictured in my last photo. Works by Simon Fielding are sought after, especially his Majolica, which he only made for a short period of time. Circa 1913.
