Gorgeous Art Nouveau pink lobed biscuit jar, hand painted with gold Japanese anemones and green and gold scrolls. The jar is molded with four lobes and painted a beautiful deep pink, perfectly accenting the flowers and scrolls. The lid is painted with yellow and white chrysanthemums and the same gold accented green scrolls, and has four molded lobes with an Art Nouveau handle. It stands 7" tall and 5 1/4" in diameter, and is excellent condition with no damage or losses or wear to the painting, and is a rare color to find. The anemones and mums are significant in Japanese culture and the lobed ginger jar form are all in the style of Nippon, however I'm not sure and it could have originated in Europe. Unmarked, circa 1890.
