Fabulous antique porcelain pillow vase, hand painted with luscious pink roses, front and back. The rim and handles are lavishly gilded with Roman coin gold. The piece is signed on the bottom by the artist, CMJ. This is the largest of the pillow vases, produced by Jean Pouyat of Limoges, France, and also produced by Royal Vienna. This piece has been painted and glazed on the bottom, obscuring any factory mark. It stands 8 1/2" tall and measures 11" across. It is in excellent condition with no damage or losses, and barely a hint of gold wear. Exquisite pink roses are hand painted on the front, with darker pink (or mauve) roses hand painted on the back, like two different vases in one. Superb example in the largest pillow vase size. Circa 1900.
