Beautiful Haviland Limoges plate signed by Chicago artist and art teacher, Elizabeth Stoner. Gorgeous tea roses, hand painted in her signature, naturalistic style. Lovely pink blooming roses with a single, vivid red rose bloom along thorny, trailing stems with rosebuds and leaves against a smoldering background of yellow, blue, green, and earthy brown. Elizabeth Stoner contributed to the Keramic Studio, a national magazine founded by Adelaide Alsop Robineau geared to china painters and art potters, and a major influence in china painting. Stoner's naturalistic style corresponded to the aesthetic, arts and crafts movement popular at the time. Interestingly, Stoner numbered her paintings, this one is numbered 4, the same as another, smaller plate we have with this same floral art painting, please see item # LMG-2416. The plate is in excellent condition with no damage. It has had professional, invisible restoration to a minute rim chip. It is signed E. Stoner and measures 9 1/4 inches in diameter. Marked Haviland, France, with Stoner's hand numbered 4, circa 1910. We show it in the last photo with it's companion, smaller plate by Stoner, available separately in our shop.
