Magnificent Limoges large French porcelain jewel casket. Glorious pair of serene, chubby, Art Nouveau winged cherubs embrace in voluminous, billowy, clouds against a background of burnt orange and yellow sunshine in a blue, lavender, and smokey gray sky . Painted entirely by hand by a superbly talented nineteenth century Victorian china painter, who has embellished this large, glorious casket with a gorgeous garland border of lavender flowers painted in gold framed, blue medallions. The rims of the lid, jar, and the base are also painted gold. The jar is painted in the same beautiful lavender and blue with hints of yellow, to perfectly match the sky painted on the lid. Marked T&V Limoges, France, (Tressemann & Vogt, Limoges, France.) This heavenly, large powder jar or jewelry casket stands 3" tall and measures 6 1/2" in diameter. It is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks, or hairlines, and with the gilding in excellent condition. Circa 1890.
